September Opens a New Front Above the Earth
The next great geopolitical rivalry is no longer confined to land borders, maritime zones, energy corridors or the theatres of conventional warfare. It is gradually shifting towards a domain that remains almost invisible to the ordinary citizen, yet is absolutely critical to the functioning of the modern world: space, where the major powers have already deployed a vast web of military, telecommunications, intelligence and civilian infrastructure.
Satellite communications, navigation and military-surveillance systems, banking transactions, weather monitoring, civil protection, transport and large sections of the digital infrastructure now depend on systems operating hundreds or even thousands of kilometres above the Earth. This dependence has created immense possibilities, but it has also exposed a new point of strategic vulnerability.
Astrologically, this entire network appears particularly sensitive during the transition from August into September 2026.
The Lunar Eclipse across the Virgo–Pisces axis, combined with the powerful discordant activation of Uranus by the Sun and Mercury, creates an environment in which technology, communications, satellite networks and critical infrastructure may experience sudden malfunctions, communication losses, technical failures or even deliberate interference, confronting governments with unexpected crises.
The emerging picture does not necessarily suggest a conventional war in space involving the physical destruction of satellites and spectacular clashes in orbit. It is more likely to resemble a low-visibility form of orbital warfare, in which the principal weapons may be information, the electromagnetic spectrum, signal jamming, cyber intrusion and the temporary neutralisation of an opponent’s technological “eyes and ears.”

In political and mundane astrology, Uranus is directly associated with technology, electricity, telecommunications, advanced networks, sudden disruption and events that trigger technological or social shock. Russia is entering one of the most critical phases in its space history. As a pioneer of space exploration, its historic status as a major space power remains a powerful element of its national identity. Economic pressure, technological restrictions and growing tension surrounding strategic infrastructure, however, are creating an environment in which Moscow will be called upon to protect not only its operational capacity, but also its prestige as an autonomous space power.
Astrologically, the period spanning the end of August and the month of September indicates heightened pressure on communications, surveillance and technological-support systems. For Russia, this may translate into a greater need to protect military and civilian satellite infrastructure, while accelerating the search for alternative solutions should critical systems come under temporary pressure or restriction.

The more probable arena of response involves electronic warfare, signal jamming, cyber defence, protection of ground stations and the development of technologies capable of limiting the effectiveness of an opponent’s satellite systems without physically destroying them.
Russia’s greatest strategic dilemma, however, is that as pressure increases, so does its need for technological and economic cooperation with China. In the short term, this relationship may serve as a lifeline for the Russian space programme, giving Moscow access to capital, technology, shared infrastructure and alternative systems that reduce its dependence on the West. Over the long term, however, the more Russia relies on Chinese financing and technology, the greater the risk of shifting from the position of an equal space partner to that of a strategically dependent ally.
The astrological picture therefore reveals more than a Russia defending itself against external pressure. It shows a Russia being called upon to decide how much of its technological sovereignty it can share in order to preserve its presence in space. This is far more significant than a temporary infrastructure crisis. It is a question of geopolitical balance that may influence developments throughout the coming decade.
CHINA: THE GREAT OPPORTUNITY
China appears to occupy a more favourable position. The Jupiter–Saturn trine at the beginning of September favours organised, long-term and institutionally structured action, potentially allowing Beijing to use this period to further strengthen its own space architecture.
If Moscow faces growing economic or technological pressure on its space programme, Chinese support may become even more important. Deeper Russian-Chinese cooperation in space could solve several of Moscow’s immediate problems, while simultaneously giving China’s space programmes a level of momentum that would otherwise take considerably longer to achieve. Over time, this could alter the balance of power between the two allies, even within the Eurasian axis itself.
EUROPE: THE MOMENT OF SPACE AUTONOMY
Europe faces a different dilemma. It does not possess the same military-space architecture as the United States, nor does it wish to adopt the Chinese model in full. The European Space Agency may be entering a period of forced maturation, in which the protection of European space infrastructure becomes a political necessity.
The Jupiter–Saturn trine favours institutional agreements, long-term planning and the creation of new structures. Europe may attempt to position itself as a regulator of space security, while strengthening the protection of its civilian satellite systems, orbital-traffic management and early-warning mechanisms.
There is, however, a serious internal problem. The Venus–Saturn opposition warns of financial pressure and disagreement over the cost of technological and strategic autonomy. Europe will ultimately have to decide whether it is willing to remain dependent on third parties for critical technologies or prepared to pay the economic price that genuine independence requires.

Humanity has constructed a technological nervous system around the Earth, composed of satellites, ground stations, data networks and navigation systems. The great powers are now recognising that whoever acquires the capacity to influence this nervous system, without necessarily destroying it, gains an exceptionally powerful strategic advantage.
The real danger in September therefore does not lie in a simple technological blackout. It lies in the possibility that we are entering a new phase of international competition, in which an adversary no longer needs to bomb a critical facility in order to neutralise it. It is enough to interrupt its operation temporarily, create confusion within its data or deprive a state of the ability to see, hear and communicate at the exact moment it needs those capabilities most.
If this trend is confirmed over the coming months, 2026 may be remembered as the year in which it became unmistakably clear that the geopolitical borders of the future are no longer drawn only across the Earth’s surface. They now extend hundreds and thousands of kilometres above it.
The security of states on Earth will increasingly depend on the balance of power taking shape in space.
